Imprint is a magazine published since 1961. It was a political magazine when acquired by Infocast Systems. After the acquisition, it was first published as a foreign affairs magazine, then as an R&D magazine, and later as a pharma magazine. Today, Imprint Avatar is a magazine of PARA Tech (Pro Automation, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence), covering machine learning, industrial automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and related technologies.
Imprint Automation India Magazine, published by Infocast Systems Pvt. Ltd., is a publication focused on advancements in industrial automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Now positioned as a PARA Tech magazine (Pro Automation, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence), it provides insights, news, innovations, and industry developments while connecting businesses and professionals across the industrial automation sector. With a long-standing publishing history and INS-registered status, Imprint serves as a resource for the evolving industrial technology landscape.
Infocast Systems Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated in 2005, taking over the assets of Studio Systems, a partnership firm that had created PALM Expo in 2001. Studio Systems was established in 1992 following the publication of Playback and Fast Forward, which began in 1986.
Anil Chopra founded India’s first professional pro audio magazine in 1986, which played an important role in the development of the music business in India. Playback and Fast Forward focused on music recording technology, studio equipment, and professional expertise, with guidance from renowned recording engineer Daman Sood, who established new standards in recording arts and techniques at Western Outdoor Studios. The Indian music industry expanded significantly with the growth of numerous record labels following the introduction of the Compact Cassette. Playback and Fast Forward became an important source of information on technology for music recording and media production. Copyright and piracy concerns eventually led the magazine to focus primarily on technology, a shift that proved beneficial to its editorial direction. In 1992, the emergence of video recording, video publishing, and broadcasting brought another major transformation to the industry. Studio Systems, which had helped drive the Compact Cassette manufacturing revolution by providing production information and industry contacts, once again became an important source of information during the transition toward the Compact Disc revolution in India.
Thus, in 1999, Studio Systems organised its first Optical Disc Technical Seminar series at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Apollo Bunder. This initiative led to the launch of trade exhibitions in 2001, including Replication Asia in New Delhi at the Taj Mahal Palace Convention Centre, Dhaula Kuan.
This was followed by the pro audio industry, represented by sound engineers led by Daman Sood, calling for a dedicated Pro Audio Expo. At the time, India had the Broadcast India Expo, but it did not specifically cater to the needs of the professional sound industry.
As Infocast Systems had been publishing a dedicated pro audio magazine in India since 1986, the professional audio fraternity felt that it was the company’s responsibility to organise India’s first dedicated Pro Audio Expo.
The founder, Anil Chopra, created the acronym PALM, standing for Pro Audio, Live [Sound] and Music [Production]. The first PALM Expo was held at the Nehru Centre in Mumbai, alongside Cinema India. The combination created an energetic platform and helped establish trade exhibitions for the emerging industry.
During a visit to Hong Kong, the founder attended the Replitech Expo at the Hong Kong Convention Centre and also visited a cinema exhibition being held concurrently at another level of the venue. Inspired by the energy, innovation, and focus on advancing new audio and video technologies, he returned to India with the vision of creating Cinema India as a sister exhibition to PALM Expo.
Soon, the magazine portfolio expanded to cover a broad range of technologies in audio, video recording, and media:
— Studio Systems – Video and broadcast technology
— Pro Sound Systems – Professional audio and live sound
— Cinema Systems – Cinema projection and multiplex technology
— Optical Disc Systems – CD, DVD, and optical storage technology
“Information Casting was the mantra for the development of India’s media industries, encouraging the adoption of high technology and investment in building a robust ecosystem for the production of audio-visual content and media,” stated Anil Chopra, Editor of all Infocast magazines and founder of its trade expos, awards, seminars, summits, and conferences.
Infocast and its various media platforms played a catalytic role in the transformation of India’s music and media industries from 1986 to 2009. Its work supported developments across the music business, compact cassette and compact disc technologies, digital cinema, the multiplex industry, professional sound and lighting for stage and installation, recording studios, and video production.
In 2010, all media assets were sold to Diversified Communications India, a U.S.-based trade show organiser.
